Yes.  Guido and/or Brian (apologies to both for mis-recollecting)
pulled off a miracle, finding (and solving!)  an undocumented problem
with Win2k I/O handling.  This was a post-1.1.1 release fix, which is
why I wanted Goran to verify that RTerm.exe worked before we started
exploring Emacs or ESS problems.
