Configuring ESS with NTEmacs

I would suggest setting the following environment variables (User
Variables) in Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Environment:

Variable        Value
HOME            The directory you want NTemacs to use as default
                directory (and where it should look for your .emacs file).
PATH            The paths to the R and Splus executables.  AFAIK,
                NTemacs doesn't use the PATH in AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Note:  It is advisable to set the User Variables, not the System Variables.

Hopefully, this should fix it.  As an alternative to setting the PATH,
one can edit the ess-site.el to explicity give the full path name of the
executables.
