^M in Stata

[Brendan Halpin]

I've had this problem with Stata on Solaris (on a remote box). I
found issuing the shell commands "unset edit" and "stty nl" before
invoking stata did the trick. 

In fact, I can't say that it wasn't just the "stty nl" that did it.
